Plant Care

  • Watering - Water jasmine plants weekly in the garden, and more frequently indoors, up to three times a week. Allow water to drain from the bottom of the pot, and avoid overwatering.
  • Sunlight - Jasmine plants prefer full to partial sunlight, but some varieties can tolerate low light. Provide bright, indirect light during the day to develop flower buds, and darkness at night.
  • Fertilizer - Feed jasmine plants weekly in the summer with a high potash fertilizer. For indoor plants, you can use one teaspoon of fertilizer per gallon of water every two weeks.
  • Mulching - In autumn, mulch with well-rotted manure or leaf mold.
  • Support - Provide jasmine plants with a sturdy support, such as a trellis or wires, as they grow up.
  • Temperature - Jasmine plants prefer cool temperatures, between 50° and 60°F, and reduced watering during rest periods.
