Plant Care

  • Light - Curry leaf plants need full sun, but too much can burn them. Place the plant in the sunniest part of your garden. If growing indoors, place it near a south-facing window.
  • Water - Water the plant regularly, but don't overwater it. In the summer, water the plant every 2–3 days. In the fall, water it once a week. Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
  • Fertilizer - Use a fertilizer specifically designed for herbs or vegetables. Curry leaf plants don't need much fertilizer, but it is best to give fertilizer once in a while.
  • Pruning - Pick off the berries to encourage leaf production. If fruit is desired, leave the berries to maturity.
  • Pests - Watch the plant for mites and scale. Use an insecticidal soap to combat the pests.
