Description

Most Ficus species are evergreen; there are a few deciduous members in nontropical areas. The leaves are usually simple and waxy, and most exude white or yellow latex when broken. Many species have aerial roots, and a number are epiphytic.

Ficus benjamina is also known as the weeping fig. The figs that grow on it in the wild means that Ficus is seen as the tree of peace and abundance and the Middle East. The seeds in the fruit represent unity and universal understanding and knowledge.

Plant Constituents

  • Ficus Panda Bonsai - Plant in Recyclable  Plastic Pot

Plant care

  • Your Ficus tree will do well in average humidity environments but will appreciate regular misting.
  • Your Ficus Alii will thrive in average temperatures of 60-75 degrees.
  • Fertilize your Ficus tree every month in late spring and summer with a general-purpose fertilizer diluted to half strength.
  • All plants need light, but ficus plants need lots of it.
  • They require indirect sunlight for at least 6 hours daily!
  • Make sure to routinely rotate this plant so each side receives consistent sunlight.
  • This will keep the ficus growing upright and prevent it from leaning or developing new growth just on one side.
  • Water. The Ficus plant prefers to dry out some between watering, but do not let the soil completely dry out.
  • We recommend that you water your tree every 5 to 7 days, or when the top inch of soil is dry.

Benefits

  • popular medicinal plant in India, which has long been used in Ayurveda, the ancient system of Indian medicine, for various diseases/disorders including diabetes, liver disorders, diarrhea, inflammatory conditions, hemorrhoids, respiratory, and urinary diseases.
  • Those issues aside however, the ficus makes a fine houseplant and enjoys spending time outdoors from late spring to early fall.
  • The bad news is that it tends to lose its leaves, but the good news is that they tend to quickly grow back.
  • Ficus lyrata is a very popular houseplant that can grow to 6 feet or taller.
  • Ficus trees could be a good choice for your property.
  • Species of these trees range in both shade trees to a variety that quickly grows into a hedge for screening.
  • However, the plant has become a controversial plant in recent years leaving homeowners to wondering how to control Ficus tree roots.
